Collaboration

This project took 5 years in the making, and I'm happy to be part of it over the past 2 years. This is a song cycle commissioned by Renee Fajardo, with music by Juro Kim Feliz and poetry by Riley Palanca, weaving 4 Filipino stories together into one art work. I resonated a lot with the stories as an East Asian living in diaspora, as I sometimes still struggle with finding my identity in Canada. It is a beautiful piece but it also took the whole team lots of hard work to bring it alive.

The song cycle was performed by Danlie Rae Acebuque, Renee, and I, then filmed and produced by a team of amazing people. The project is released online as music videos. I'm very excited to see the final product and I hope that you can give it a listen!

New production by UofT Opera, Opera Student Composer Collective. In collaboration with Ricardo Ferro, Qiushi Jiang, Maria Eduarda Mendes Martins, Prokhor Protasov, and Nick Veltmeyer, setting libretto by Michael Albano. Disobedience will coincide with UofT's New Music Festival. Conducted by Spencer Kryzanowski and directed by Michael Albano.

Due to multiple covid exposures, the world premiere of Disobedience will be postponed to January 22, 2023 at 2:30pm, in MacMillan Theatre, University of Toronto.
